Textbook Brokers Selected to Operate Wayne State University Bookstore
Detroit, MI | November 1st, 2025
Textbook Brokers announced today that it has been awarded the contract to operate the two-story, 29,000-square-foot Wayne State University Bookstore in Detroit and online eCommerce website. The partnership officially begins October 31st, 2025, bringing investments in affordability, student services, and community partnerships.
Within the first year, the bookstore will undergo a complete renovation, transforming the two-level store into a state-of-the-art campus hub for course materials, technology, apparel, and community engagement.
Lower Costs, Guaranteed
Textbook Brokers’ StudentFIRST Pricing model ensures course materials are typically 20–30% more affordable than national competitors. With a Best Price Promise, students get the lowest available price without needing to shop around.
Concierge & Online Experience
Students will enjoy a concierge-style in-store service, with staff guiding them step-by-step through course material selection. A fully integrated online platform allows students to browse, compare, and order materials online, with options for in-store pickup or direct shipping.
Retail & Local Partnerships
The renovated store will feature national brands like Best Buy and Carhartt, alongside local Detroit companies, including a locally operated coffee shop, bringing a distinct local flair while supporting the city’s economy. Students will also have access to an on-site UBreakiFix service center for device repairs.
Faculty Partnership & Technology Integration
Through its Collaborative Adoption Process, Textbook Brokers partners with faculty to provide the best product mix possible. Cutting-edge POS, eCommerce, and financial aid solutions ensure seamless operations and minimal workload for administrators.
Service-Focused Management
Textbook Brokers operates with a service-first mindset, providing personalized support for students, faculty, and staff. From concierge in-store service to virtual bookstore operations, the company functions as an extension of the institution, making bookstore management more efficient than ever.
“Wayne State students and faculty deserve more than a traditional bookstore,” said Robert Batcheller, President at Textbook Brokers. “We’re combining affordability, technology, and concierge-level support with a modern renovation and local partnerships. This store will set a new standard for what a campus bookstore can be.”
The transition will be seamless, with uninterrupted access to course materials and services throughout the academic year.
