Textbook Brokers and Aiken Technical College Launch Ready for Success Program to Lower Course Material Costs

Textbook Brokers has partnered with Aiken Technical College to support the launch of the Ready for Success program, a cost-saving initiative designed to improve affordability and access to required course materials for students beginning with the Fall 2023 semester.
The Ready for Success program offers enrolled students a predictable, affordable way to access their course materials by charging a flat fee based on credit hours. This approach gives students access to digital and physical textbooks at a significantly reduced cost compared with traditional purchase models, helping minimize financial barriers to academic success.
Textbook Brokers worked closely with Aiken Tech leadership to design the program so that students automatically receive required materials on the first day of classes. Participating students pay a set rate per credit hour, which can often lower total costs compared to purchasing books individually.
The college reports that this new program also complements other affordability efforts, such as expanding the use of open educational resources that provide free student access to selected textbooks and learning materials. Faculty and library staff at Aiken Tech have collaborated to increase the number of courses that incorporate open resources as part of broader cost-reduction strategies.
Students who prefer not to participate in the Ready for Success program may opt out during the add-drop period each semester while retaining the option to acquire materials through alternate channels.
The Ready for Success initiative reflects a shared commitment by Textbook Brokers and Aiken Technical College to make college more affordable and to support student achievement through smarter, more equitable course material delivery.
